Cherie’s Campbelltown Renovation

Husband and wife homeowners, Darren and Cat recently purchased this property and have just spent the last eight weeks renovating their property internally. The couple were very hands on during the internal renovation but both are unsure as to how to tackle the weatherboard exterior. Darren and Cat feel that curb appeal is essential when trying to attract buyers and it will really affect the price when they eventually sell.

The couple intend to live in the property for the next year or two but are looking to sell and move onto their next renovation project. Cherie Barber has been called in to offer her tips and advice for renovating this weatherboard exterior. Let’s see what advice Cherie gives to these new homeowners to help transform the exterior of the house in just 8 hours to help give their home real street presence.

RENOVATION STRATEGY:

The aim of this renovation was to transform the front façade of a 1970’s Australian plastic weatherboard home in just 8 hours. The fast timeline of 8 hours was purely due to TV filming only however any reasonable person could do this transformation in 5 days comfortably.

The scope of works included:
  • Spray painting the roof.
  • Painting the front façade and carport only (owners will paint remainder of house themselves)
  • Spray painting the existing fencing.
  • Demolishing existing front steps that were not in line with the front door.
  • Creation of a grander entrance and new front steps, centralised opposite the front door
  • Installation of new merbau garden beds, garden mix, plants and cypress woodchips
  • Paving paint the front porch
  • Install new letterbox

BUDGET:

Total spend: $6,000 including GST.

No pre and post renovation valuation done.
