Wardrobe Styling Secrets

Storage is everything. Ideally you want a mixture of shelving and storage options, allowing you to have tall hanging space, some shorter hanging, some open shelves, and of course some draws to hide all the bits and pieces.

Remember that your linen cabinet, your walking robe if you have one, and your built-in robes are all about showing how much storage your home has. But you don’t want to fill it with socks and underpants and clothes.

It’s about creating a lifestyle feel for people, so they will imagine themselves in your home, in a clutter-free and organised way.

I usually achieve this using a mixture of textures and finishes that add interest to the room. Wooden coat hangers, textures storage boxes, maybe some hanging shoe storage, some hanging zip-up clothes’ bags… remember, a great trick is to  hang some dressing gowns; they are going to add a resort feel. And for me white is bright and clean. So, some folded white towels or some wicker baskets with a woven textured detail are going to add lifestyle aspects to what is otherwise a boring old storage room.

So, to all of you IDFP students, I hope you are putting your new found knowledge into practice, as there’s plenty more bonus tips and tricks coming your way.
