In this video you will learn how to refresh your outdoor decking from Australia’s Reno Queen – Cherie Barber.
[00:00:13] Getting ready for summer? Forget the juice cleanses and bikini bodies, my priority is getting my home in tip top shape. You can make a big impact in just one weekend by showing your deck a little, love with some help from Johnstone’s Professional wood care. This deck is my favourite place for fun in the sun with family and friends. But it’s exposed to the elements and it’s starting to look tired and weather worn. And the timber outdoor furniture isn’t looking its best either. [00:00:42][28.4]
[00:00:45] Johnstone’s Professional has a huge range of products to suit all timber species and colours. Now this deck is merbau and that’s the colour I’m using today. But you also have the option of walnut, teak, jarrah and natural. Well now I know what products I have to use, I better get changed ready for work. [00:01:02][16.5]
[00:01:04] You can use these professional decking oil colours on any species of timber, even treated pine. If your deck is new you’ll need to remove the tannins before you oil the deck. You can use Johnstone’s Professional Hardwood Tannin & Oil Remover, but my deck has been oiled previously, so I’m going to give it a thorough scrub and use their deck and timber cleaner. [00:01:24][20.0]
[00:01:28] Once you’ve diluted with water it is as easy as scrubbing with a stiff bristle broom and then leave it for about 15 minutes to work its magic. Then hose off with high pressure to clean the surface. [00:01:39][10.3]
[00:01:43] Once your deck is completely dry, give it a light sand all over then apply Johnstone’s Professional Deck Oil. It’s touch dry and ready to re-coat in just one hour. What I love about this product is it’s semi transparent, which means you still see the beauty of the natural timber grain. [00:01:58][15.0]
[00:02:04] Around wet areas like a pool or spa use Johnstone’s Professional Slip Resistant Deck Oil to make sure there are no unexpected thrills or spills. And don’t forget all your outdoor furniture. You can use Johnstone’s Professional wood care products for those. Remove any surface dirt and just spray on Johnston’s Professional Timber Furniture Clean Up. After 10 to 15 minutes, scrub and rinse the furniture before applying Johnstone’s Professional Exterior Furniture Oil. That’s done. [00:02:39][35.0]
[00:02:39] Just like a deck oil, you can recoat in one hour’s time. These products are water repellent, will protect timber from the sun’s harsh rays and they have superior anti-mould and fungal properties. Plus Johnstone’s products come with a 12 month aqua protect guarantee, so you can kick back on your deck knowing that Johnstone’s Professional are working really hard for you all year round.
